Quote from Mark on Jul 19th, 2010, 8:17pm:
I'm a new member of the forum and a new recumbent trike owner.  My name is Mark.  I'm 63 and live in DeSoto. I usually ride in the Joe Pool Lake, Cedar Hill, Midlothian, & Ovilla area...

Welcome, Mark!  Try to get in touch with KingJason on this forum, he lives in DeSoto as well, and has a RANS V3...

You probably will be somewhat slower on your trike, but pushing yourself in group rides is one way to get faster, as I'm sure you're aware.  You're now dealing with a (probably) somewhat heavier bike (trike), and have three wheels worth of rolling resistance instead of two...   but you're enjoying the ride a lot more!!!   Smiley

Just dropping into to give a wave. I mostly ride around River Legacy. Been looking into these group rides and such. I'm not a very experienced biker but I love to be out on the bike. I have had a lot of fun and met a lot of interesting people. Here is to meeting more and having much more fun. Mostly checking out all the good references for gear too.

Welcome, Elliot!  A lot of us are just casual riders, new to the game or not.  We ride together lots so keep checking back and jump in and join us anytime!  I too got my start at river legacy.

Hi,
I'm Tim Oujezdsky and live in Houston. My daughter lives in Dallas near White Rock Lake and I've ridden that trail and also the creek trail to as far north as it goes.

I ride a Corsa now but have both a Gold Rush and my first recumbent - an EZ Sport AX (I rarely ride either of the lwb's anymore.) I primarily ride with a small group of Bacchetta riders (Carbon Aero 1 - 700c, TiAero X 2, and a couple of Carbent Ravens {not Bacchetta but they are welcomed in the group}) here in the Houston area. Additionally, when group rides are not available, I ride on an 11 mile paved trail in George Bush Park at Highway 6 and I-10 West. I am also a TeamBent member and occassionally ride with them. We all keep in touch through their group site on Yahoo.

Last weekend, speedy Mark Lueck passed a few of us on a cold Saturday morning doing his ride. If you look at his blog and video for that day, I'm the rider second to the front on the Corsa at about 7 minutes into his video.

You may see me from time to time around White Rock Lake. If so, I look forward to riding with you.

Welcome, Tim -
The "Clown" group rides WRLake Tuesday and Thursday mornings after meeting at Barbec's for breakfast, so try to hook up with 'em...  Other than that, post your travel/visit plans here, and we'll see if we can arrange or suggest any rides...

Howdy, 'bent folks!  My name is Shelley and I am new to recumbent cycling.  i spent nearly 10 years on a racing roadie and thanks to all that riding and my genetics, I was left with herniated disks in my lower back.  My new Catbike is my ticket back to the road after a long rehabilitation.  I got my new ride from Easy Street Recumbents in Austin (Mike is the BEST!!) about 2 months ago.  I took it out on a couple of rides before the weather got cold and it's so comfy, I'm so glad to be back on the road again!  I didn't expect to get so much attention riding my new contraption among my upright brothers and sisters, but since this is the Catbike's debut year I suppose it's only natural!  Here's a picture of my new bike!  Smiley

Look forward to seeing you all on the forums and on the road in the spring!

Tony, they had one at RBM Richardson several months ago, don't know if it's still there or not.

Shelley, welcome -- and it seems that you've discovered that it doesn't pay to be an introvert while riding a 'bent...
