I've done a 28.9 on my carbon trike ..    When it cools off and the wobblers and dog walkers move back indoors I am planning on a run to see if I can get it to 25min  which would be near some of the early velomobile runs I made .

I think my fastest lap on the 700 is about 36 minutes, giving it all I had.   Smiley
Perhaps when the temps are cooler I'll give it another go.

So, looking at that map of a magic lap. As far as I can tell when the trail west of the lake splits--left going over to the street, and right going over to the boat house--you guys go right to the boat house, right? I've always gone left and hit the road. I have always done the laps so that I am going down the big hill over the dam. Next time I try for a magic lap I'll try to go by the boat house.

You would think the times would be better if you did use the road.

I would say use the road and go clownwise.  The dam hill is better going down, and there is no equivalent to going up it that way.  Going the road does add a tenth of a mile or so.  But I should talk.  I couldn't do a magic lap with a motor assist!

Oh, by the way, two magic laps in a row last Tuesday, (after a parade lap), on the Performer lowracer:

1. 29:52 minutes

2. 29:49 minutes

As shown by the speed graph, my "pushing" cruising speed for non-sprinting on the trike on flat ground is 20-22mph...  compared to 24-25mph on the Xstream.  A real demonstration of the ~15% number I tend to talk about regarding loss of speed moving to a trike - thanks, Physics!

Okay, thanks for the info. One more thing--do you guys never go out onto west Lawther? Do you stay on that little narrow path the whole way up the west side of the lake? Or do you go out onto west Lawther after the boathouse?

Hey, Reever!  We don't generally take the right fork to go over the wooden bridge, we stay straight to enter W Lawther, then back into the park, going under the new bridge, still under construction.  We remain on W Lawther all the way to Mockingbird Lane.  So much less foot traffic that way.

You need to trade the Sprint in for a GS Aero trike.  Cheesy

As far as I can figure my last lap today was 29:29. This might have been a perfect day for this thing--very little traffic, cool, a bit windy.  A white truck slowed me down to 11.2mph (and scared the hell out of me!!!) doing a K-turn right in front of me backing into a spot in the dirt lot by that new building on the northeast of the lake. I passed a group of recumbents--two trikes, a high racer, and a crank forward something or other. I ended my ride at 1:03:59 and began that lap at 34:30.

Oh, rode my Musashi.

Congratulations! Thought that might have been you, after you passed us, and I saw you were on a Musashi. When I saw you in my mirror, thought you might be Mark L, because you looked like you were riding a low racer at warp speed. The crank forward bike you saw was Kenny J's E-bike, powered by Bafang. The "high racer" was actually a M5 carbon mid racer. I was riding it. A couple of us were on the last leg of our fifth lap.

Way to go Jim. You are in way better shape than me. I wouldn't need that white truck to get me to go 11,2 mph!

Jay, just before I got to you guys I had to go cross country for a bit, as I couldn't make that winding turn that the sidewalk makes after it ducks under the street. I was going too fast to make two turns in a row and had to go through the grass. I'm thankful I didn't bite the dust on that one. Sorry I didn't have time to chat after my two laps were over. I had just driven in from Florida where I'd been riding on the Withlacoochee trail and some other trails out there. Wow, does Florida do their trails right! That thing around White Rock is good, but the trails in Florida are like 12-15 feet wide and go on forever! Congestion is never a problem.

Jerry, you have a very short time to whip yourself into shape before we all meet at the Texas Motor Speedway. Can you BELIEVE the College Station games were cancelled again this year????

Thank you guys for welcoming me into the magic lap club....society.....brotherhood?????

Oh, I just looked on Strava and saw that this segment called the east curve had me ranked 44 out of 11842. Ha! We ought to get a recumbent pace line going someday and see if we could climb that ladder.....

Jim I doubt I'll be much of a factor at the Senior Games. I am battling bronchitis again right now. I'll do my best though.

I have ridden the Withlacoochee Trail and General James A. Fleet Trail several times when My daughter lived in Clermont, FL. You should come ride the 37 mile smooth concrete Cotton Belt Trail that loops with the John Barfield, Little Bear Creek, and North Electric that makes it 37 miles.
