GDB Century / 200K
Jul 9th, 2007, 11:46am

The GDB club is planning to do a century or 200K as a prep for HHH, probably Sunday July 29th.  This will be paced to have a ~16mph overall average, and will be a route with as minimum of chipseal as possible.    I'll post more information as plans firm up.   Steve and Peggy, this would be a good one for you two to join in on...

This sounds like fun, but with any luck I'll be riding around somewhere in Tuscon at that time.  Y'all have fun!  D J

OK, we've settled on a GDB century ride for Sunday the 29th, 7:30AM departure.  This ride will depart from the Mesquite Poteet HS parking lot, head down to Ferris, then over to Terrell (Subway lunch stop) and back.  Intended average of ~16mph for the day, with 17-20mph cruising, no drops intended.

This would be a good century outing for the Stradas, Ken, Charlie, Bud, etc., and anybody else who feels comfortable with that kind of pace.

However, there appears to also be a faster "renegade" group forming, that might well average 18-19, with cruising speeds above 20 -- if anybody's interested...   lips sealed

This is becoming a popular concept for this next Sunday.  There will also be a 100K group riding out at the same time (7:30AM), intending to ride casually (~14 avg?) , for those who have not even done that distance yet.  Relatively flat course.  Please contact me if interested, and I will put you in touch with the ride leader for it.

It sounds like the rain will hold off until the afternoon. I'm planning on riding. Who else is going?
