I really don't like expressway driving with that Nimbus on the rack, and could use more miles than that, too. I think I'd like to start closer to home and ride to the 8:30 park meet-up. Paul, give me a good route from DFW Airport to the park.

If any of you are planning on one last "fast endurance" ride prior to TTTT, let Nelson and I know.  While I'd like to ride with my newly found rbent family, we want to do a fast, race pace ride of at least 50 miles.

Of course, for those of you who know me, that means 14-16 mph.   Grin

Paul...did you know that there is an organized run(5/10K) race at White Rock Lake this Sat. morning?   Not that it matters, there's always something going on there.

Shouldn't matter much, we'll be going the opposite direction, and only on the West side.  If we run into issues, we'll adjust!!!!

OK, here's the reverse of the regular Airport Ride, basically.  This takes you from the Shell Station at the northeast corner, to the WHite Rock Trail point at Forest Lane, approximately 2 miles south of Valley View park.  It's 18 miles, and should take you roughly 90 minutes (traffic lights), so getting on the bike at 7AM is probably desirable.  Once you hit the trail, you can wait there (call me), or head north to meet us at 635.  If you're early, hit the Fourbucks there for some coffee!!!

Then might I suggest the GDB Airport Ride, departing Preston/Forest at 8AM sharp.  It's ~54 miles, consisting of 18 miles out there, an 18 mile fast loop, and 18 miles back.  Unless you're wanting 50 continuous fast miles, that is... then Argyle is better!  Ask for Mike Eipper, and tell him I sentcha...

I did my fast paced ride in Cleburne today on the TT course. 3 laps-1 fast paced at 20.2mph-59mins-2secs. There was a strong southwest wind(not to mention almost getting blown over by sand/gravel trucks several times). I checked my log, when we rode the course in early August-my fast time was 58mins-5 secs-20.6 mph.

I had mentioned 30 hours before, simply because the "course record" was set last year by the GDB Assassins, at around 26 hours...  And those were some strong riders. Now if halfway through Friday night, we look like we're threatening that, it will be a pleasant surprise...   We're in the "36 hour" time group overall, though.

I thought that since you had the V26 now, we were shooting for 25.5 hours.

Wait a minute................... ain't this the White Rock thread?

I hope you all have fun at White Rock. I'm going out to endanger the lives of numerous upwrong riders at the Autumn In Bonham ride.

Valley View Park. north of LBJ at Hillcrest, where the White Rock Trail begins, will be closed for about 3 months for a total remodeling.  The children's area will be moved, ball fields will be repositioned, etc.  The trail in the park will also be somewhat rerouted.  The trail bridge leaving the park to the south is CLOSED NOW.  Coming north, there is also a sign on the trail at LBJ.

If you drive to the trail head, you need to park south of LBJ, effective NOW.

Coming back northbound under 635, we will plan to go slightly west to Hillcrest and north one block back up to Valley View Lane.

I guess I've never paid much attention (since I've always started at Valley View, early in the morning before I'm fully awake).  Is there a place to park on the south side of LBJ?
