Waxahachie Cow Creek Rally -- June 23
May 15th, 2007, 10:40am

This was a good ride last year, despite scattered thunderbummers (which created a GREAT rainbow through the start of the ride!)... I did the 100 miles.  If we register 8 or more riders together from RBENT, it's only $15 each... such a deal!   Anyone care to join me for a century???  Waxahachie is at least SOMEWHAT centrally south of everyone...  Ellis county has chipseal, but it's not REALLY bad...

Here's some info from the website
( http://www.cowcreekcountryclassic.com/ )  :

Early registration by Monday, June 18, 2007, $20 each. Family Discount Fee, 4 or more (parent(s) and children under age 17) residing at the same address and paid with one check…each member $15. Corporate Discount, 8 or more riders from same organization (will be recognized at ride) each rider $15, entries must be sent together. After June 18, no family or corporate discounts – each entrant $25. Late registration will be accepted until 8 AM, June 23. Make checks payable to: Waxahachie Rotary Club.

PACKET PICK-UP

Registration packets may be picked up on Friday, June 22 from 6 PM until 9 PM at Waxahachie 9th Grade Academy across from the Waxahachie High School. On Saturday, June 23, registration and packet pick-up will be from 6 AM until 8 AM also at the Waxahachie 9th Grade Academy. We promise a fast, efficient registration.

THE RIDE!

Our ride is not a race, and will consist of 10, 19, 36, 46, 75 and 100 mile tours on a well marked course.

The 10 mile is a leisurely in-town tour of historic Waxahachie, with unique “Gingerbread Homes” and “National Historical Register Landmarks”, such as the octagon-shaped Chautauqua Auditorium in Getzendaner Park and the Ellis County Courthouse. All ages can participate with confidence of a safe ride. This years in town ride will also utilize part of the new Hike ‘n Bike Trail that Waxahachie has opened, the ride will also go through the downtown area and if you want you may stop and eat or shop in the many antiques and arts & crafts shops around the square. This is an ideal ride for beginners, children and families seeking a fun morning together.
The 19, 36, and 46 mile tours go through some very beautiful, scenic parts of Ellis County.
The 75 and 100 mile tours are excellent rides through the beautiful countryside of South West and Southern Ellis County and parts of Johnson, Hill and Navarro Counties. There are some rolling hills, but most of the roadways are fairly flat.
All courses other than the Waxahachie City 10 mile are on paved rural state and farm roads, most of which have no shoulder. FOR YOUR SAFETY YOU ARE STRONGLY URGED TO RIDE SINGLE FILE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE TO ALLOW AUTOMOBILE TRAFFIC TO PASS. The finish takes you through Historic Downtown Waxahachie and into the back of the High School which will have less traffic.

I have a 700 mile bus ride planned for that weekend Tongue . I would rather ride 100 miles on the bike, it would be less painful.

I ride my bike to ride my bike, and sometimes it takes me where I need to go.

Im good for a century.  But you will need to set the pace.  Im a lollygagger, and a banna feind who  never saw a rest stop I didnt like.  So you will need to decide how much you want to stop.  I would like to pedal at least one century a month.  August will be HnH.  September will be TTTT.  So we need to find an event in July that will have a Century option.

06/23 is the Cleburne 200K, and 300K brevets with the LSR, so I'll likely be doing one of those.  Both the 200 and 300 cover much of the TTTT course as part of their route, so encourage you guys to come out.

Take Care,
Nelson.

ACK -- I'm sorry, Bud, but I'm going to have to cancel my Waxahachie participation...  work interference prevents me from being gone that long that day, and it would be around 3-4PM before I got back...  darn...
