HHH Registration
Jun 3rd, 2019, 4:49pm

I almost forgot to register for HHH this year. I just got my HHH 100 Ride Guide magazine and it reminded me to register so I did. I need to start training now!

Haven't decided whether or not to go up there this year...  doing the 100 on the trike was interesting, especially leaving JRob in the dust...   Cheesy   I never pre-register, since it's a 2.5 hour drive and the "onsite" registration never has much of a line...

The gym at First Christian isn't a bad deal - $50 donation, breakfast that morning, and the ability to shower after the ride...

I had a good training ride today for HHH. I got back home from my ride at 1:24 pm and the temp was 102 with a heat index of 110. I need to drill a couple more drain holes in the WAW as much as I sweat. I am thinking of doing the 50 miles, but might end up with 25 instead. I got way too hot the other day and dehydrated. Ended up sitting in a cold shower and drinking a total of 2 gallons of NUUN electrolyte water before the dizziness went away. First time in a long time I was cramping all over.

Bud, Carolyn R and myself are staying at the church as well.  Hope to see you there.

JRob---take it easy in the heat.  I rode this morning for only 2 hours and was dripping wet.  Everyone be safe.

I have decided to stay at the Howard Johnsons after my plans have been changed. I'll be going up Friday morning and meeting up with Doug Davis and the other 3 velomobile riders at 3 pm. I know of at least 5 velomobiles and maybe 1-2 more if they make it. Have to see how I feel when I wake up Saturday morning and decide what distance I am riding.

I guess it is back to camping as they are over booked. Of course if I wanted to pay over $400 for one night they could make arrangements.

If you show up at First Christian, they'll find a spot for you. It's $50, and they let you come shower after the ride.

JRob, Carolyn and I have cancelled our reservations at First Christian church so they should have some space.

Did the thunderstorms make it too cool for you?

I had forgotten that First Christian has a veteran discount. It just cost me $25.

Thanks for the info guys. I will not be making HHH for health reasons. I was loading my WAW into the van Thursday and one arm went numb with shooting pain and then the other and I was very dizzy with a severe headache. Apparently I had a heat stroke, dehydration, and a heart attack. Maybe next year. My vision is still a little blurry.

Thanks Bud. I am still a little weak. I need to start riding a lot earlier or after dark!

I went to the cardiologist today. He said not too much damage to my heart. He had the nurse hook me up to an IV as I was still a little dehydrated! Told me to take it easy in the sun and to get my riding in before 8 am. He said I could start riding again tomorrow to just take it easy for a week or so. Maybe I'll be ready for the Arkansas Olympic Games in September.
