Title: HHH Registration Post by jrob_bent on Jun 3rd, 2019, 4:49pm I almost forgot to register for HHH this year. I just got my HHH 100 Ride Guide magazine and it reminded me to register so I did. I need to start training now! |
Title: Re: HHH Registration Post by diannalightning on Jul 8th, 2019, 2:57pm Ok, so where is everyone staying this year---YMCA, First Christian, etc. |
Title: Re: HHH Registration Post by jrob_bent on Jul 8th, 2019, 6:43pm I will be staying at the Bridwell AG Center with the RV's. |
Title: Re: HHH Registration Post by FlyingLaZBoy on Jul 11th, 2019, 10:52am Haven't decided whether or not to go up there this year... doing the 100 on the trike was interesting, especially leaving JRob in the dust... :D I never pre-register, since it's a 2.5 hour drive and the "onsite" registration never has much of a line... The gym at First Christian isn't a bad deal - $50 donation, breakfast that morning, and the ability to shower after the ride... Paul |
Title: Re: HHH Registration Post by Bud_Bent on Jul 11th, 2019, 5:35pm I'll be staying at First Christian again. |
Title: Re: HHH Registration Post by jrob_bent on Aug 11th, 2019, 1:59pm I had a good training ride today for HHH. I got back home from my ride at 1:24 pm and the temp was 102 with a heat index of 110. I need to drill a couple more drain holes in the WAW as much as I sweat. I am thinking of doing the 50 miles, but might end up with 25 instead. I got way too hot the other day and dehydrated. Ended up sitting in a cold shower and drinking a total of 2 gallons of NUUN electrolyte water before the dizziness went away. First time in a long time I was cramping all over. |

Bud, Carolyn R and myself are staying at the church as well. Hope to see you there. JRob---take it easy in the heat. I rode this morning for only 2 hours and was dripping wet. Everyone be safe. |
Title: Re: HHH Registration Post by jrob_bent on Aug 13th, 2019, 11:47am I have decided to stay at the Howard Johnsons after my plans have been changed. I'll be going up Friday morning and meeting up with Doug Davis and the other 3 velomobile riders at 3 pm. I know of at least 5 velomobiles and maybe 1-2 more if they make it. Have to see how I feel when I wake up Saturday morning and decide what distance I am riding. I guess it is back to camping as they are over booked. Of course if I wanted to pay over $400 for one night they could make arrangements. |

If you show up at First Christian, they'll find a spot for you. It's $50, and they let you come shower after the ride. |

Did the thunderstorms make it too cool for you? I had forgotten that First Christian has a veteran discount. It just cost me $25. |
Title: Re: HHH Registration Post by jrob_bent on Aug 23rd, 2019, 9:44pm Thanks for the info guys. I will not be making HHH for health reasons. I was loading my WAW into the van Thursday and one arm went numb with shooting pain and then the other and I was very dizzy with a severe headache. Apparently I had a heat stroke, dehydration, and a heart attack. Maybe next year. My vision is still a little blurry. |
Title: Re: HHH Registration Post by Bud_Bent on Aug 25th, 2019, 11:08am Dang, sorry to hear that. Hope you're better soon. |
Title: Re: HHH Registration Post by jrob_bent on Aug 25th, 2019, 4:14pm Thanks Bud. I am still a little weak. I need to start riding a lot earlier or after dark! How did HHH go for you? |

Title: Re: HHH Registration Post by jrob_bent on Aug 26th, 2019, 2:34pm I went to the cardiologist today. He said not too much damage to my heart. He had the nurse hook me up to an IV as I was still a little dehydrated! Told me to take it easy in the sun and to get my riding in before 8 am. He said I could start riding again tomorrow to just take it easy for a week or so. Maybe I'll be ready for the Arkansas Olympic Games in September. |
