EarthX Event on Saturday, April 27
Apr 22nd, 2019, 1:26pm

There is a group event planned for this Saturday at EarthX in Fair Park. Groups can plan to meet up at a starting point of your choosing,  then ride to EarthX arriving between 10am and 11:am. Cyclists may ride to the gate, then walk cycles into the park. There will be a Bike Corral set up for parking and locking your bike. Security will be provided.
There will be tacos and beer available for cyclists as well as cycling-related booths in the Cycling Pavillion area, just outside the Automobile Building.
The Texas Recumbent Riders will be just inside the building with our demo booth, once again showcasing recumbent trikes and bikes. Please stop by and say”hi” if you come to the park.

The EarthX folks would like to have an estimate of how many riders to expect, to ensure they have adequate space allotted, so if you have a group coming, they would like to to register them at:

UPDATE: PathFinders ride schedule.
I will be meeting another rider at Sunset Bay around 9am Saturday to ride over to The Lot to join Richard Freeman (trike rider) and the Cedars Group for a 10am meet-up with the rest of the PathFinder group.  Below are the times and places for the three distances and speeds if you want to join a group to go to EarthX at Fair Park.
************
This is huge!  Free entry.  Free Bike Valet (from Richardson Bike Mart). Free E-bike rides on their test track.  Choose your distance:, 8, 16, or 36 miles.  The largest environmental event in the world featuring over 800 exhibits indoors and out and food pavilions.  Here's the fact sheet:  https://earthx.org/earthx-fact-sheet/ Here's some of the exhibits:  https://earthx.org/exhibitor-photos/,

8:15am  36-milers gather at Valley View Park, larger (2nd) parking area from Hillcrest.
8:30am  Wheels Down (ride departs) for 36-milers
9:30am  Meet 18-milers at White Rock Lake Parking (NW corner).
10:00am  Meet 8-milers and Bike Friendly Cedars at The Lot.
10:30am  Arrive at Fair Park and check-in bikes at Valet.
1:00pm  Return ride departs from valet.
1:30pm  Ride ends at The Lot for 8-milers
2:00pm  Ride ends at White Rock Lake Parking for 16-milers.
3:00pm  Ride ends at Valley View Park for 36-milers.

Speed:  18 and 36 milers should be able to "average" 10+mph for at least half of your distance.  8-milers only need to be able to average 7mph for 4 miles.

Distance:  8, 18, or 36 miles round trip.

Bring:  Helmet, Water (2 bottles for 36-milers), cell phone (Add  Mark Solow cell phone 972/965-2262 and text him your number before riding withe this group), $/cc for food, walking shoes are suggested (you may need to bring a small back-pack to carry them).

Please RSVP by clicking "Going" on Facebook or emailing me at marksolow@gmail.com.  They would like a count for bike parking.

All times and distances are estimates.
*Ride at your own risk.

Hope that you can join us.  Forecast is great.

I will probably ride down from the store with my youngest on the tandem - if anyone wants a longer ride.   We can meet up with the 36 milers as 36 miles isn't enough to get the bike dirty  Grin
