Crime at the pond
Aug 4th, 2016, 6:19pm

If you've been listening to the news there's a crime wave at the pond. Four reported robberies around the lake. The good news is they have occurred between 12 and 2 AM.  Be careful.

Dallas Morning News reported that 6 of the 9 victims were Pokemon Go players.

Unfortunately, White Rock is a very, very good place to play Po Go and some of the monsters are more likely to be available at night. It's sad but if you don't pay attention to your surroundings you become an easy target. I met a gentleman a couple of weeks back who works a swing shift. He told me he takes his son out every night, after he gets off work, and they Pokemon together. He also said he has spent more time with his son this summer than he has ever been able to do before. It's sad that someone like this might be targeted as a potential crime victim but there are always opportunists looking for an easy mark. A few months back, it was runners and cyclists near the park getting victimized.
