Airdog -- Finally, an Autonomous Drone!
Jul 31st, 2014, 1:58pm

Airdog, the pilotless...that's right, completely autonomous personal drone is nearing the end of development, and will be shipping to its early customers to arrive this Christmas.
For years I have dreamed of second-party filming.  Now, it's even possible from the air.  Imagine seeing your bike ride from over the water as it's following you at White Rock Lake.  Lots of videos on YouTube for the quadcopter, but here's one to start you off:

Enjoy!  Smiley

That is SUPER awesome!  But, with only a 20 minute maximum flight time, I would hate to stop every 15 minutes or so to swap LiPo's Sad

Oh, I imagine there will be better batteries in the offing, or newer model drones making better use of the existing power.  The wealthy person would buy the new drone, take good care of it, then as the battery life improves in newer models, sell it to someone who wants in on the earlier model.
GoPro's in-house batteries stink, but there is an after-market company, Wasabe Power, whose batteries have double or triple the life.  I haven't used the original batteries since purchase.  I think GoPro makes more money selling the rights to manufacture the battery than to produce it, themselves.

My Parrot AR 2.0 only has a 20 minute max battery. The biggest problem is payload, with the laser and a 30 cal. it hard to get off the ground and recoil play havoc with the flight stability.
