U opinion: Terry Tullus 650Cx28mm fatty racer tire
May 20th, 2014, 10:42am

What your experience and opinion from riding on Terry Tullus 650C x 28mm fatty racer tires?

I noticed that the Terry Tullus 650C x 28mm fatty racer tires are still available in the after-market supply chain.  Anyone have extensive experience with these?  Enough to know how much they possibly slow you down?  Im thinking a fatter tire will roll better on TX chip-seal  (bolder seal as Bud calls it.)  I want to put one of these TT 28mm tiers on the back of the V3 and run a 25mm in the front.

I'm running the Tellus 28mms on the back of the Xstream, but I couldn't tell you much about their relative "speed"... but they're about the only 28s out there!  I'm less than impressed by their flat protection, unfortunately.

Depends upon what you're looking for - wider width than 23/25mm for cushion, or find a 23/25 with better flat protection.

Im running a 28 on the rear of my V3 and 23 on front. The Terry tire is good enough that I will order 2 more when needed.

Ken you might want to stock up on a few of these tires in case they go completely out of production.

Had two more flats with the Terry Tellus this morning on the Airport ride...  th-th-that's all, folks.  The Serfas Urbanas came in yesterday, should have switched it out then.  I cut the airport ride short, went home, changed out the tire to the Serfas, and went out for another 30 miles, no problem.

The Urbanas apparently weight the same as the Terrys -- 340g --, but they feel like they have a thicker center section -- but they're also rated for 125 psi, vs the 110psi for the Terrys.  I didn't notice any particular negative effect, so I'm going to go with the Urbana for a while.  The Urbanas are also half the price of the Terrys...

We shall see....

I had a couple of Serfas Seca 650c x 23 tires installed on my X-Stream. Bought them, because they were cheap. They impressed me, because they were perfectly round. A review I read said the same thing about the Urbana. Really hacks me off when I pay big bucks for Conti, Michelin, and Schwalbe tires, only to have them turn out to be excessively out-of-round (Any out-of-roundness in a $70 tire is excessive IMO.  Smiley).

Paul are you rolling on two Serfas Urbana 650c x 28mm tires (front&back)?

I was similarly unimpressed with the Terry tire when I ran 650's. IIRC the Terry was narrow, about 25mm and the Panaracer 650x25 was about the same width. I like the Pasela, I have used it in more than one size.

YMMV
