Tour Dallas, April 6
Mar 31st, 2013, 11:33am

They've already marked the pavement in my East Dallas neighborhood for this ride. I like it, because of the typically large turnout. The large number of riders with varying levels of experience adds an element of danger, particularly near the start. For that reason I always do the ride on my trike. I'm doing the 30-mile route. Long range forecast is calling for great riding weather. Looks like there will be a food truck food court at the finish this year in place of Pizza Patron. Any other trikers doing this ride?

My friend and new triker Terri will be attempting the short route I think.  Look for her on an orange Speed.

I'm planning on doing it and expect to have at least one other family member along with me.

Glad you've recovered enough from your operation to get on your computer. Will Kathy be riding the 700?

Parking is not a problem. There are usually 3000+ riders and about 8,000 available parking spots. I park in the reduced rate parking lots one block South of City Hall. I believe the fee is $5.

Kathy will ride her Trek.  We always ride over from home.  We or Patti will let you park by our house for a minimal fee!   Cheesy

If you we're hardcore you would ride to the start and then home. That might give you a reasonable riding distance.

I need to conserve energy for the charge up the hill into Oak Cliff and back, and the speed runs on West Lawther and Turtle Creek Blvd.  Smiley

Nothing to be nervous about. Just thousands of people riding at their own pace, enjoying the sights and having a good time. Just got back from registering for the ride at Bicycles Plus in Snider Plaza.

Yeah!  Except for bike swallowing potholes and tire snatching trolley tracks, the worst part is the hill out of the lake area, where people bail right in front of you.  It's not like it's a race!   Cheesy

If one decides to ride a bike, yes there can be hazards. If I recall correctly, Mrs. testersbc rides a trike, like I always do on Tour Dallas. Bring on the potholes, tracks and crazy bike riders. We are like the honey badger - we don't care.  Cheesy
