I also made our own flags -used one of those pole things that you stick in the ground that has a reflector on top
I took the reflector off and placed on the  back on my trike using wire ties-it is a nice large size reflector about 3 inch diameter or more
I stuck the bendable pole down along the struts that hold the seat back and used wire ties and you will never guess what became the flag...I found some little stuffed  pumpkins for about $2 each made of  bright color light-weight orangey material at the dollar store.  the head of the pumpkins was stuffed with pillow stuffing...I removed the head of the pumpkin with scissors, cut holes in the ends of the remaining material  -about 3 ft x 3 ft piece and wire-tied it to the post. Works great.  but when transporting the trikes in the back of the truck, I use small bungies to wrap all the material up and around the post so it does not blow off...made one for each trike.
