Crack in frame
May 10th, 2010, 9:05pm

Saturday I noticed a crack around my bottom bracket.  Not to sure if it is serious but it can't be very good.  I did ride 40 miles after seeing the crack.

I'd call any crack that is fatigue-based serious.

I take it that is the CA? Wow yeah I would think that is serious. I was hoping those things would be super stout becuase I kinda want one and am very near the threshhold.

John, Peggy dropped a chain (twice while climbing) during the HC600K race which resulted in a scratch in the paint around the bottom bracket  (the same exact area that you pointed out in your photo). Although the photo is a little blurry, it could be cosmetic . If your bottom bracket is not creaking, I would think you would be OK. Just my 2 cents.

Steve you hit the nail on the head.
I sent a e-mail to Bachetta and John Schlitter answered right away.
he asked for a better photo so I took it to PC&F this afternoon, after Kyle removed the chainring we discovered it was a scratch.   I remembered dropping my chain once, only once but that was enough.
Here is a better photo.
I have been on some pretty rough roads and hit some mean bumps and the bike just keeps on rolling.  That is why this surprised me. Only problem is: What kind of bike possibly could be next?

John good deal. When I saw the picture, the area of the scratch & scratch itself looked exactly like Peggy's CA2.0 when she dropped her chain. A chain tattoo.

Thanks to Plano Cycle & Bacchetta for great customer service. Now you can go back to riding without any reservations. The CA2.0 is a tank. In the past year, I've ridden my CA2.0 on some nasty boulder seal. The bike just keep rollin'.

Sweet. Yeah chains can do some nasty damage. I have lost two wheels now to them. Or at least a bunch of spokes. LOL
