My grandson's mountain bike has Schrader valves.  I am replacing his tires and was wondering if I could use tubes with presta valves.  I have several tubes in the size I need with the presta valves and none that have schrader valves.

If your son were an adult I would say yes.
A kid will let the tires get low and then the tube will then move inside the tire until the valve gets bent off.
You can get adapters for putting presta tubes in a schrader rim.
