Lancaster Rally pre-ride, Sat Mar 13 9AM
Mar 10th, 2010, 1:27pm

The GDB group is doing a pre-ride checkout of the Lancaster Rally route this Saturday the 13th.  The group that rides this typically rolls at about 18mph, so if you'd like to join in, please be able to hold that kind of group ride speed....  There will probably be both a 42 and a 63 mile group, that split apart at the typical "rest stop #2" location.  I will be riding the 63 mile route, and there should be cue sheets and maps for the other routes.

Weather forecast from NOAA:  Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 64. Northwest wind between 5 and 15 mph.

"We will start promptly at 9:00am from the parking lot of the First Baptist Church in Lancaster on 2nd Street, just east of Lancaster Rd/Dallas Ave.

We will sort out the routes (62 miles, 42 miles, and 20(?) miles) according to individual’s preferences, but be prepared to ride in “unsupported style”. There are a few places to stop, but it can be sketchy.

The routes are challenging with lots of hills and open areas subject to wind speeds greater than what is common in Dallas. There will be loose dogs about, so we recommend bringing a whistle or mace. "

Apparently the ride start is 9:30AM, not 9AM....
