Given the time change forward on the 14th, the GDB club will be changing it's Tuesday night rides from White Rock to the REI and Mesquite Poteet locations. Both rides start (rollout) at 6PM sharp, and are leaderless "drop" rides for the most part, that assume you know the route.
Group rides like these are a fun way to challenge yourself, and build up your endurance and strength. The GDB club is a pretty social group -- and they're definitely used to 'bents, ah gua-rahn-tee...
So get out there and mix it up a little!
The Mesquite ride meets at the Poteet High School northwest corner of the school parking lot. The main group of a dozen or more rolls at a pretty good clip, 18-20mph, and there may be a slower, smaller second group, but participation varies.
The REI ride meets at the east side store parking lot at Welch and 635, and is a larger group, splitting up into at least three groups of varying speeds. Fast group is 20+, "middle" group is 18-20, etc., but traffic lights can split people up into various groups. There is also usually a "casual" group that rolls at ~14ish, so ask for it.
Daylight will only last till about 7:30 for now, so the routes are in the 20-25 mile distance range.
See the GDB website for more details... I'm probably going to be doing the Mesquite version more often than the REI version, since it's much closer to home...
