Just to clarify things a bit. Fred (the original owner) spent about $100 to replace a wheel and some tie rods. The front wheels were still prone to move when the chassis hit a bump due to some cracks in the aluminum, so I strengthened the front wheel attachment points with a custom 1/4" piece of welded aluminum.

It's faster than I remember as I hit 35 before the bottom of the hill I live on after braking twice. The Gold Rush needs a bigger hill to go that fast.
And yes it is good to be a retired engineer.
