What's Your Fav Lube Brand?
Jul 12th, 2008, 10:14am

While reading a lube thread on the AB reflector, one lube stuck out as a very good product line to convert to when I restock next month.
Do any here have any experience with this product line and if so how do you think it stands up to all the good pr the company post about it?

I use it, it works as advertised. It needs to be redone about every 100 miles in the dry and after every rainy ride as it will wash off.

I ride my bike to ride my bike, and sometimes it takes me where I need to go.

I use the ProLink on the bikes I ride the most (Corsa and SXP), lubing very often, and use Dumonde Tech on the lower mileage bikes where I expect it to last longer.

Chain lube seems to end up being a personal thing; everyone does it his own way.

Prolink Gold for me, as well.  Smiley

I've used a couple others in the past, including the much-ballyhooed Purple Extreme (which I didn't like because it attracted too much dirt). I've used Prolink exclusively since switching to the recumbent and have been very happy with it.

I've been using the Rock and Roll Gold for about a year now with good results.  For years I just used 3 in 1 oil and wiped it off good once a week.  Anything works pretty well If you hit it a lick every 100-200 miles.

Nelson.

The lick I'm talking about takes less than a minute,   a few seconds of lube application, and a few seconds spinning through a rag, sometimes spot cleaning the derailleur pulleys.  I ride several different bicycles, so each rarely needs it more than twice a month.

Take Care,
Nelson.

Over the last three years, I've used R&R blue, Triflow, and now R&R gold...  They all seem to work, and they all seem to leave black marks on your leg...   Wink

That would be my opinion exactly.  I can never get a clean chain anyway.

Ah, I love technical talk....

"Lubrication is what keeps metals from getting all weird."

They're right on target, here, though:

Well my take on the Ernesto lube isn't good.  Seems to last well, but it gets a little gummy, and the chain gets very dirty as a result.  I cleaned it off and reapplied my current favorite Rock'n Roll Gold.

much better, but it might take a few weeks to get all the Soybean juice off.

Take Care,
Nelson.
