'Bent uprising in Plano
May 10th, 2008, 5:58pm

The Plano East Side ride this morning featured 7 (yes, SEVEN) recumbents (and a Cruzbike) out of the maybe 20 riders total...  including two brand new (2 week) converts, and Richard, who joined us from Garland..  I'll post pics later on...

Here's the impromptu gang:

Raymond on Dave's TiAero (2 weeks now), Me (SXP), Lynn on her new hiracer, Rich with his Giro, Carolyn with the P-38 (2 weeks), Mark with the Strada (with Rotors), and Brian with the Cruzbike

Carolyn on her new P-38, and Richard, who apparently ran into EV at the bike shop while his Giro was there, which convinced him to get one as well!

Raymond and Brian, booking along at 20+

I'll bet that was a kick, Paul! Normally, I would have been right out there with you guys, but my folks are in town this weekend. All I got in was a quick 16 miles around the neighborhood yesterday morning.

I had an e-mail from Ray last week, and he said he was riding David's Aero. I kind of wanted to see how he climbs dump hill on it, since he's always the first to the top on his wedgie.

He's not as quick up the climbs (yet) as Brian and I, but he's doing quite well already after just a couple weeks on the bike.  We were talking yesterday about how you get out of the "gotta draft" mindset on a 'bent -- he already sees it.

He's noticed a signficant reduction in his heart rate as well, say pulling 18mph on the Aero vs. his DF.  We may have a convert, here...   Cool

Everybody's already here, with the exception of Carolyn, whom I didn't know had gotten her P-38, and Raymond, who's still in "evaluation mode".

Good to see richard enjoying his giro! The rack seems to go much nicer on the recurve then my euromesh.  Someday I'll make it out but I gotta save my driving for any brevets or long event rides I'm doing with my wife. Maybe I'll get enough legs to ride out to plano to ride out with you folks soon.  Where does the east side ride go out of in Plano and what time?
Hm I need to google more.. this ride?
