LSR 200K "Ferris Wheel" Permanent, Rockwall
Apr 16th, 2008, 10:53am

At the moment, I'm planning to join in on this one this Saturday, 19 April  Here's the map:

Anybody else like the idea of a tailwind most of the second half?   Wink

... several of us, are planning to ride the
Ferris Wheel 200K permanent starting from the Rockwall Hobby Lobby
parking lot at 7:30 AM.  We would enjoy having some company should
anyone like to join us.

Ferris Wheel includes a beautiful stretch of the Bluebonnet Trail
between Ferris and Ennis.  The flowers are out so now's a good time to
do this route.

If you'd like to ride with us, please RSVP to me so I can print a card
and cue sheet for you.  You can sign the waiver at the start.

This or last weekend is THE time to do this one.  Beautiful with all the Blue Bonnets.  I wish I wasn't otherwise occupied. Sad

Bah, you're still alive, aint ya????   Grin

Besides, we DID have a tailwind the whole way back.  Ok, 1/5 of the way and the rest was a nasty sidewind, and the last 10 miles was all in your face, but who's counting, really????    Tongue

Paul, I might can join you for this one. I hadn't known it was avilable.  I'll email george and let him know I'm a maybe.   It depends on how long a drive out to the start it is for me, and how long a night I have with baseball.  If I'm not getting home till midnight again, forget about it.

It's about an hour's drive from your place, out I-30 then up 205 -- or you could drive to my place in Rowlett, and we could go out 66 from there.  Under normal circumstances, I would ride the 9 miles to the start (and back), but I've gotta be at Garland HS by 6PM, so I'm planning on a 9 to 9-1/2 hour ride, similar to what Italy has taken the two times I've done it.... and an anticipated return to Rockwall by 4:30-5:00 is cutting it a bit close -- so I'm driving over to the start.

George sez departure is 7:30, so I plan to leave the house by 6:45.

Got your email and I've got my bike ready to go.   As long as our game lets me get home in time to get 6 hours sleep, I'm in.  I'll call you on the way tomorrow if I'm coming.  Otherwise I'll try and sleep in and do the perm that Dan Driscoll is doing right by my place.

OK, Greg --
Tell ya what, let's meet at the Shell station on the corner of Bobtown/Roan and I-30.  Take the Bobtown exit off of 30, and the station will be right there at the intersection.

Any other long-distance Eastsiders want to join in?

This was an EXCELLENT ride, although Greg and I pretty much blew ourselves out keeping up with Shellene (La Machine) Foster...   I'll do a ride report later on.    128.5 miles, 17.0 average!
