RANS seat pan attachment
Sep 18th, 2007, 9:59pm

Had a strange moment at the start of the Tuesday night ride this evening, on the V26...  I sat down on the bike, and felt the seat pad/base "flex" an inch or so...  I know that there's a hinge connecting to the Rad-loc clamp, but my brain (and butt) went "huh?  DAT ain't right..."

I got off to look underneath, and it seemed that two screws/bolts that hold the back section of the seat pan to the seat frame had BOTH come out of their holes...  the hinged section was still tight.   So much for the TEBR ride...

So I immediately made another trip to PCF, and Rick happened to be walking through when I went in.  We took off the seat cover and pad to inspect what was going on.  Apparently, the seat pan is attached to the frame by two screws that thread into a couple of braze-ons.  They weren't stripped, they had apparently just backed their way out over the time Barry has been riding it.  And weirdly enough, they both let loose simultaneously...

We just screwed them back in (tight), and reassembled the seat/cover.  Taa-daa, nothing broken, no charge....  and lesson learned on how to dismantle and reassemble a RANS seat base.
