200K Permanent 08/04 & 08/11
Jul 31st, 2007, 10:00am

Hi Folks,

Going to ride with Dan Driscoll and some other LSR folks out of Greenville on the OK is OK permanent this Saturday at 0630, and the following Saturday Ray and I are planning to ride the the Prairie Hill Roundup staring in Italy at 0700.  Anybody is welcome to join us although I think LSR/RUSA membership would be needed if you don't have it.

Take Care,
Nelson.

I was thinking about doing the Rio Vista Rumble permanent Sunday (the 4th) with Gary Gottlieb, since it starts so close to home, at Joe Pool Lake.

What are typical average and cruising speeds for these rides?

OK I'll admit to my ignorance. What is a permanent?  Huh Looked at this site for definition, didn't find but it is interesting.

Hi Paul,

speed sorta depends on who shows up.  The min to complete the ride is @9.3 mph with stops.  That said Mark, Dan, and Jorge are usually looking to do a 200K in Sub 9 hours, sometimes sub 8 hours.  My typical completion times are between 9-10.5 hours.  Cruising speeds are 16-17mph avg typically.

Take Care,
Nelson.

Not a problem, thanks.  That puts it in the range of my typical experiences.

If anyone is interested in riding the Prairie Hill Round Up with Nelson and I on 8-11 I need to know to ensure enough cue sheets and cards are printed.

Like Nelson said, you must be a RUSA and LSR member to ride (for insurance reasons).

If Paul and I aren't looping the TTTT course on the 11th, I may join you and Nelson.

Looks like we're doing Cleburne instead of the 200K...

After last Sunday's reminder of just how brutal this August heat can be, HHH may be my only remaining August ride of 100 miles or more.

Yes I hear ya! boy the heat was brutal on me Saturday as well, with 100 degree temperatures forcast for this Saturday rest assured I will be taking it easy in the heat and hydrating/electrolyting well.  You guys be careful also, or better yet get 'er done before it gets too hot.  I will ride more quickly in the morning and shut it down to survival speed for the heat I imagine.  I learned alot about on the road recovery last Saturday, and the fact that it can happen if you're careful.

Take Care,
Nelson.

I've sent in my membership dues for both LSR and RUSA -- I'm planning to do the Sept 1 ride for the 200K (or MAYBE the 300K), and possibly the GDB/FWBA Venus ride as well...

Great News Paul!, Sorry I won't be able to join you that day I'll be knee deep in moving my In-Laws.

Look forward to it in the near future though!
