GDB Hill Climbing Wednesdays
Jul 25th, 2007, 11:32pm

GDB has started a hill training ride departing from the Performance store at Walnut Hill and 75 on Wednesdays at 6:30.  The typical plan is to do either the Mason Dells area south of Forest Lane, or go to White Rock and do the Loving area.  Performance provides changing rooms, Accelerade, and GU packets -- not a bad deal!

Tonight we did Mason Dells -- we had 17 riders, an excellent turnout.  NATURALLY, I was the only 'bent there... Cheesy  I took the fairing and Aerotrunk off, just to lighten up a bit... The routine was to circle to the bottom of the hill section, and bust up to the top -- regroup, and circle back and do it (or another similar climbing street over) again.  After the first couple times where I was among the first 3-4 to the top, people started looking at me funny... Grin

Unfortunately, there was this teenaged kid named Morgan who was about 5'4" and 130 pounds, that kicked everybody's butt EVERY time...   Ah, to be 17 and...   Naaaaahhhhhhh...... Roll Eyes

We did this about 10-12 times, I believe, then went over to the Ricks Circle loop for a fast downhill reward before heading back...  I didn't join in the final sprint downhill on Walnut Hill -- because I already know I could smoke everybody DOWNHILL, and besides, I like to use the last mile for cooldown!!   Grin   Overall, got in about 21.5 miles, and some good exercise!

Foo ya oughtta come down for it...

Paul,

Youth is waisted on the young. What a twisted trick nature plays on us. By the time we get our head screwed on straight, our bodies start to fall apart. What's up with that? Wink

Paul,

I was referring to "Unfortunately, there was this teenaged kid named Morgan who was about 5'4" and 130 pounds, that kicked everybody's butt EVERY time...   Ah, to be 17 and...   Naaaaahhhhhhh...... " Would you want to be 17 again? I wound not because of the having to go through all the mental, emotional and hormonal mess again.  It seems a bit humorous to me that all that settles down & we get wisdom and knowledge later in life, after our bodies start to decline.  Huh Wink
