Lancaster Rally route preride, Sat Mar 11th, 9AM
Mar 8th, 2017, 10:05am

There is a GDB preride of the Lancaster Rally 42 and 62 mile routes, this coming Saturday, March 11.  9AM rollout from the Lancaster gazebo square.  Weather-dependent, as there is currently a 30% rain forecast...  This is an open-invitation ride, but we plan to roll at a 16-18mph pace on flat ground.  The group will probably stay together until the 42/62 split after Sugar Ridge Road.  Additionally, there will be minimal rest stops, as we're dependent upon local retail establishments...

Paul will host the 62, and PJ will host the 42.

Probable return times:  42 mi - noon    62 mi - 1:30

There are also other "prerides" scheduled -- One is Sunday, March 19th, and the other is Saturday, April 1st.  The April 1st ride will be the 23 mile route, and will be the John's Trikes & Bikes store ride for that morning.  Rally packet pickup will be available at John's after the ride.

Thanks for posting. I'm watching the weather Saturday and will let you know if I'm joining. Hopefully the rain holds off and I'll see you there. I'm assuming if I can make it 30 miles between stops I'll be ok from a water standpoint?  If not I'll bring a 3rd bottle.

No need for a 3rd bottle - temps in the 50s/60s, you won't be sweating that much.  Weather looks dry as of now!!!

Will the route be the one posted on the GDB site as the 100k?

I'm on the fence.  Ride with gps shows 2k feet of climbing, are your speed estimates(16-18) overall average of just the flats?

I'm also afraid of being near john's place and all those bright shiny toys

You have the choice of 42 or 62, at the split at mile 20.  16-18 is going to be the flat rolling speed.  Overall average more like 14-15.

We'll regroup after hills, when needed.  I'm on a 40-pound trike, fer goshsakes!!!

I'm still planning to be there in the morning.  Hoping you will post any cancellations due to rain here (or text me) in the morning if necessary?
