Oklahoma Recumbent Rally, Apr. 23, 2016

Craig B forwarded the below E-mail flier to me. I contacted Mr. Massengale, and was informed that the country rides will start 9-9:30 AM, 1/2 mile east at 1ST Baptist Church parking lot. Sag # 1-405-527-6160. No breakfast will be served, but there will be free pizza, after the rides, at the American Legion hall next to the bike shop.

Oklahoma Recumbent Rally
April 23rd 2016

The purpose of this email is to invite you to our Recumbent Rally. This is basically a get-together of anyone that rides a recumbent. Come to meet other bike and trike riders, and look at new products you haven’t seen. Come to sell, swap, or trade with others.

We will have country rides of less than 10 miles, to as long as 20 miles. SAG support will be provided.

We will have recumbent riding events and skilled events.

Tell all your friends and recumbent riders about our rally, and yes we will let other bikers join our group.

I was up for this until I read that bit .. have to think about it now.

The rides are secondary. It's mainly a social gathering of Texas and Oklahoma recumbent riders. I attended the first one in 2013 and liked it. RBENTers Kenny J, Cruzbike Chris and his wife, and BentVision and his wife also attended. The activities and pizza are free. How can you beat that? The alternative is to pay $40 to wear yourself out climbing hill after boring hill at Muenster.

That was *exactly* what I was thinking .. its ~180 miles door to door via the safest route I know (yes I planned it out already)

Part of the fun is checking out each other's rides. The Milan or Mango would be a big hit. Recommend a dramatic entrance - come flying up to the bike shop with an open cockpit, WWII leather aviator's helmet, and a red scarf. Cheesy

Learned this afternoon that there was a yellow velo of unknown make at last years rally.

I'm sure .. ride shopping (or drooling) makes it worth the trip. Though if road anything up there it would have to be the Mango, the Milan is fun, fast but not really a good street vehicle for back country roads. Its hard enough to deal with in the city at times. At least not for this pilot.

Couldn't have been better. Great weather and people, and all the free pizza you could eat. No charge for the rally, but it could have been an expensive trip, if one decided to buy one of the upscale recumbents that were for sale in the shop. Cheesy
