Depressing....I'd drive around a bit. You've got a couple of joy riders.

Great news, the police called me about an hour ago and said they recovered my Red Expedition and were going to bring it back to me.  They didn’t have the yellow Trail.  When the officer arrived with my Expedition he asked me to follow him down the alley to a vacant house.  The yellow Trail was in the driveway behind a storage shed.  The policeman noticed it while he was driving to my house.  Everything was in the saddle bags and noting was vandalized.  I guess they didn’t have room for both Catrikes and left the Trail.  The policeman said the Expedition was about 5 miles away in the back of of an addition.  A couple was walking their dog and called the police to report the Expedition.

The shed that I keep the Catrikes in has a ramp leading up to a double door.  I think the thieves probably thought there was a riding lawnmower inside.  I'm just thankful that they weren't vandalized.

Thanks,

Mark

Good.  Questions. Since they were taken overnight, were you home and was there a lock on the shed.

Congrats on the speedy recovery. Even better that there was no damage.   Smiley

Yes, it happened overnight, between about 7PM and 8 AM.  The shed is located close to the alley and is not inside our fence.  I bought the shed specifically to store the Catrikes.  Its about 8' x 10' x 8' tall.  The shed had a very strong lock, but the thieves twisted the lock until the hasp broke.  The lock was not damaged.  The policeman gave me some suggestions on how to use rebar to help secure the doors.  I've installed a stronger hasp and will figure out how to use the rebar.

Hey, I'd really like to see pictures of the finished product when you fortify that locking shed door with rebar. The same thing is happening out here in Abilene--breaking into sheds to get lawn equipment. Out here they are destroying the hinges and just ripping the doors off that way.

Adults should have fun so kids will want to grow up!

For every mile of road there's two miles of ditch.

I'd rather be sorry for something I did than for something I didn't do.

Glad you got you trikes back. Is there room for a Pit Bull or Rottweiler in the shed? Only feed it once a week!
