GDB Airport Out and Back route, Sat Aug 8, 7AM
Aug 5th, 2015, 1:54pm

Given the ~105 afternoon forecast for this weekend (and not doing Hot Rocks), this Saturday Aug. 8  I'm planning to do the GDB Airport Ride route as a 40+ mile out-and-back, rolling from the southwest corner of Forest/Preston at 7AM...  as opposed to the normal club ride start of 8AM.

Anyone interested in joining?  I'd like to be able to roll at a minimum of 15-16 mph, or a bit faster if the group allows...  but, this is NO DROP, and we're not racing anyone.

Rollout at 7AM, from Forest/Preston -- we'll go out Northaven, to Rosser, to Valley View, to Luna, to Beltline over to Freeport and down, then basically reverse it.  I anticipate finishing by about 10:30.  We can do bonus miles if we're all up to it...

I'm desperate for summer mileage, riding with a group, since motorists behave much better when they encounter a group than a single rider, especially of an unusual HPV.   Smiley

Count me in.

Just a note, that I tend to treat this route as more of a "tempo ride", as opposed to all-out effort... but with the occasional sprint zone opportunity if you want!

Please wear a helmet, since this is at least halfway a GDB ride...

I'm riding tomorrow one way or the other.  Riding with people vs solo, hmmmm.  I will be there.

A few moments ago, some idiot ran into my trailer.  I had just gotten tires for it.  Anyway, I have to get another hitch for it, and repair the tongue.  Sorry, I will have to bow out of the ride tomorrow, Paul.  Thanks for putting it together.

Mike, thanks for joining in on Saturday, it was a pleasure riding with you!   We had a good ride, keeping 18-19 most of the time on the way out, and slower on the way back...   and finished just after 10AM!

Thanks Paul.  Always more fun to ride with others and get pushed than a solo effort.  I will keep an eye for another opportunity to get to that side of the metro mess.
