GDB Mesquite Moderate ride starts tonight, 3/10
Mar 10th, 2015, 7:06am

The GDB Tuesday Mesquite Moderate ride is starting up tonight, thanks to the time change...  6PM rollout!

The ride leaves from the Poteet HS parking lot (park near NW corner) at the corner of Galloway & Poteet Drive, just south of Town East Blvd. 6PM rollout, NO DROP -- please arrive by 5:45 at the latest, if possible!   Note that there will be a faster "drop" group rolling at 5:30, so choose your poison - this is NOT my group, on Tuesdays.

Typical flat road rolling pace ~16 mph, with overall average ~14mph, but this is group-dependent, and we regroup after climbs. We'll do whatever mileage daylight lets us get in, typically with a short break. Lights not required, but helmets are, and blinkies are recommended. Please bring tools and tubes to be self-sufficient, in case of flats!

The group may split, dependent upon rider abilities, but nobody gets left out there by themselves... this route definitely features some climbing, so be prepared to work a little!  We'll avoid the hillier sections along Barnes Bridge, for the first couple of weeks...
Any questions, give me a call or email me...

Would love to have some other 'bents out there on Tuesdays (and Thursdays, if you want to join the 5:30 faster group - I plan to)

Distance: 20+
Flat Road Rolling Pace: ~16mph, group dependent

Hey Paul - how fast is the 5:30 group?

I'm going to try to make it out periodically - mixing it up with the PBA Wednesday rides when I can. I encourage anyone that can make it to come out. It is really good riding!!

They roll at 18-20 most of the time, but do tend to splinter...

Our group got in 19 miles last night, finishing right at 7:30, with a 14 mph average.  We'll increase the distance steadily as daylight hours extend.

Come out next Tuesday!

You have a guess of the computer avg?  Just finished tonight's PBA ride with a 16.8 avg.   I'm going to guess I still have work to do to try to keep up with them especially since there is probably more climbing then the 750 I had tonight. A 5:30 start is going to be problematic for me anyway.

You'll be fine, you know the area -- that's the most important part, not getting LOST if you're dropped a bit...  You'll be fine, they need another 'bent to hassle them...   Smiley

I'm hoping to make it out to this ride tonight.   Do we need headlights?

Had a nice ride tonight -- both Doug Davis (MrWizard) and Tony Ward came out to join us.

Doug was on the Catrike 700, nicely decked out with lights and a cool light pole in back.

Tony is climbing better than I've ever seen him...
We got in 21 miles total

Some pics are up on the GDB site, at
