Excerpt from Action Lad post under "Ride Reports" category: "I'm going to corroborate with you, even the extra long Windwrap fairing alone on the trike didn't give much, if any, advantage. Greatest benefit came when it would open up on its hinge to form a sail whenever there was a tail wind...YIPPEE! I think the holy grail for an open-frame trike would be to figure out a "Captain America" equivalent. "Hey, put a sock on it!!"

Looks like it's head-in, my preferred arrangement. Do you happen to know how the owner attached the sock onto the fairing in such a clean manner?

It's probably attached the fairing with Velcro, like the sock on Kenny's Capt. America GRR is.

The trouble with fairings is the air flow simply sweeps around the sides with a trailing stream of eddy currents. You may not feel the wind directly in your face behind the windscreen mostly due to the eddy currents. Of course the eddy currents are moving and following Bernoulli's principle the air is now a lower pressure on the backside then the front. While that may only be a tenth of an inch of water pressure its still going to produce nearly as much drag with the windscreen as without.

The VeloKit for my Catrike Speed is aero on its front portion, but sucks a vacuum big time on its rear. So much so, I can't keep up with any of the Clowns. Keeps me extra warm though when the sun is shining and I'm flying along at 8 mph and expending about 150 watts of energy. Cheesy

By the way, the side panels are attached to the fairing and white plastic top with Velcro.

It has a wide, rounded rear that doesn't lend itself to an aero mod. The only thing that would make it faster is a higher wattage rider, like you or Key.
