Mineral Wells Trailway on Saturday
Nov 6th, 2014, 8:27am

Thought I would put this on here in case anyone is interested. John's Bicycles does weekly rides on Saturdays, usually from the shop. This weekend, however, they are doing the ride in Mineral Wells. Below is the email with all pertinent info:

Dear Bikers,

On this Saturday November 8th we will be doing the Saturday morning Easy-Going ride in Mineral Wells (west of Ft. Worth).  Participants will meet in front of John's Bicycles at 7:00 am, leave in cars/trucks/vans promptly at 7:15 am, and will arrive at the Mineral Wells starting point approximately 8:30 am.

Please let Michael know if you need transportation to Mineral Wells, and he may be able to arrange it.

The map provided in this link John's Bicycles to Mineral Wells Trail way  shows how to get to the destination. Riders that want to spend Friday or Saturday night Mineral Wells have several hotels to choose from.   Unfortunately all campsites at Mineral Wells State Park are full.

The group will be pedaling 24 miles on a generally flat terrain.  About 5 miles of the ride is on smooth concrete bike "trailway", and the remainder is on a groomed, finely crushed gravel trailway.  The gravel path would require tires of about 1 to 1.5 inches in width or more, preferably with some tread.  Touring bikes would be fine, along with mountain bikes and hybrids.

For those with mountain bikes who would like to ride off-road trails, Ralf will split from the group about 8 miles in and do moderate trails. The other riders will continue with Michael on the bike trailway and perhaps stroll through a botanical garden.

The trailway fee is $7.00 per person, and this fee also allows access to the state park and botanical garden.

Please e-mail Michael at michael@johnsbicycles.com  or call him 469-297-1520 to let him know if you are going and if you need a ride.

Hope you can join the ride!

If you have a Texas State Parks pass, the trailway is free.

If we don't go to Houston over Turkey day, we're thinking about giving Mineral Wells a ride.

Likely we'll camp at the state park park a couple nights if we do it.

Mineral Wells is looking better & better all the time.  Looks like Friday & Saturday will be camping weather.

Too bad the campground reservation system is broken again.
