Looking for Rides
Jun 30th, 2014, 11:24am

Hi all!  I'm fairly new to cycling.  I began riding a couple years ago but only on local trails such as the Cotton Belt in Hurst (~15 mi round trip) and River Legacy in Arlington (23 mi).  I would like to expand my riding experiences, but I am uncomfortable riding on the streets alone.  I would like to find other recumbent trikers to ride with and learn new routes around the north Hurst area.  If you are in the Hurst area and often ride 15 mi or more, please message me if I can tag along.  Not sure if my schedule will match yours, but I'd love to consider new rides.  Thanks!

I use MapMyRide, so if you're a member, then please add me.  Also, please share maps of your recommended rides Cheesy

If you ever want to come up north, I am game to go riding.  Area is between 75 and 77 on the E/W sides, and 380/82 on the S/N.  Lots of county roads with relatively light traffic, not too horrid chipseal, and plenty of refuel/rewater stops.  I am in McKinney.

And if you can come south, Alexis and I will ride with you and take you through benbrook lake dam, which has traffic, but very little and it is all speed controlled.  The fwba does a beginner ride there frequently.  They'd be a great group to ride with when you can.

Greetings another rider in my area.

Cotton belt is a great trail that can be used to jump off into all kinds of riding in Keller, southlake, grapevine, Roanoke and of course hurst.  I live just a few miles from the south end of it and ride it occasionally, but do ride all over the area.  Not a mapmyride user but use Strava, endomondo, ridewithgps garmin connect and can share routes with you from any of these.  I ride the area most every weekend at distances from 25-100 miles, there are also several shops in the area who do Saturday morning rides, bicycles inc, hurst, knobbies and slick colleyville, bonzaicyclewerx ft worth(my favorite and a catrike dealer).

Pm, let's see how I can help you.

Thanks everyone so far for responding.  I would like to stay in my area for now and learn all the *safest* on road routes here that I can.  I recently purchased a TerraTrike Tandem Pro from Bob Wand on this forum and I'm hoping to learn routes that my son and I can enjoy together.  But first, I need help to learn them Wink  I'd like to be able to start from home and go for at least 20 miles.

Have you tried Strava route explorer?

Might be a way to find routed others have stored/frequent near you.

Bicycles inc hurst might have routes they can share with you.  You might ask them for a wknd ride map etc
