Well, Mesquite turned out OK, I'm not going to do Collin County this year, so next is Tour d'Italia in two weeks. Italy was my first pay ride, in 1994, and it was an annual thing for me until a few years ago. So this will be a 20th anniversary ride for me. A look at ridewithgps.com shows the 100k to be recumbent friendly, but the total climbing measurements are all over the place, from 1400 to 2200 feet. Something around 1800+ seems right to my memory. A 20 mile section goes against the prevailing winds early in the ride, then it's a cruise back to the start. The rest stops are generally well managed. The last one has wet towels, fresh fruit, and an Elvis impersonator. The facilities at the High School are available, but I've experienced trouble there due to overcrowding. They put Porta-potties outside now. This ride will get hot, so I'm sticking to my 15 mph plan, with the Musashi. 06/21/14: Tour d'Italia, 08:00, Italy High School. 12,30,40,50,62 miles.
