GDB Mesquite Time Trial series starts Apr. 17
Apr 14th, 2014, 12:50pm

The GDB Time Trial series starts up again this Thursday, April 17th...    want some exercise?  You don't have to be a GDB member to participate...  and I'm the coordinator for it.  I can proudly say that I've held the club record since 2008, on the Xstream prototype....   Cool

The Third Thursday Time Trial is a 7.25 mile loop around Mesquite Airport - There's no money, no trophies, just bragging rights...   essentially racing against yourself.  The map is here: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2225731

We roll out from Poteet High School in Mesquite, from the west side parking lot promptly at 6:00, ride ~8 miles out to the airport for a warmup, then laps begin about 6:40 -- if you wish to meet us out there, that's fine, too! We start inside the airport, just past the main control center building. The loop is very simple -- take every right turn available - at Scyene, at Lawson, at Berry after the Speedway hill, at Lucas, again at Scyene, then back into the airport for the final half mile sprint, to much encouragement!

All types of road-worthy human powered vehicles allowed - TT bikes, Cruisers, Fixies, Recumbents, Trikes, Tandems, whatever -- if you pedal it, bring it!

* When riding, be safe, watch for cars, and obey any applicable traffic regulations;
* No drafting of others -- if you overtake someone, you must swing out to the side and pass them, or drop back ~20 feet;
* Watch for the crack in the center of the Airport entrance drive - it's a big one!
* HAVE FUN!

Projected calendar dates are:

 April 17 / May 15 / June 19 / July 17 / Aug 14 (moved up due to HHH on 8/23) / Sept 18

See you there... call Paul Brown for more information, at 214 690 6781

17:51, a 25.2 mph average.......  the course is slightly shorter now, due to restricted access inside the airport.  Prior "DF" record was/is 18:14, a 24.7 mph average.  But again, it's more about setting a base time in April, and seeing how (or if)  it improves through September!

You're really racing your own personal best...  so I don't care if you average 15 mph, taking 30 minutes!!!!  It's your own "best effort"...

I'll be watching the weather. Interested to see my speed difference on DF vs high racer.

Do you have the stats for the one I did last summer?  My Garmin recorded 7.18 miles in  22:31 (19.15 avg)

I won't be able to make it this Thursday, got a soundboard to run, so I pre-rode it on my Merckx this evening (all without leaving my office).  I'm not used to having to go all out, without spending 5 hours warming up first.

I don't think I've got the course just right, when I do make it out it will be GPS and Video capture the first time.
