Bessie's Creek

Oops. I guess i posted on the wrong place……Anybody going to the Bessie's Creek thing around Houston? It's a 6 hour, 12 hour, or 24 hour race……qualifier for the RAAM if you make 400 miles in the 24 hour. Anybody heard if it really is a flat course? Is it well run?

Adults should have fun so kids will want to grow up!

For every mile of road there's two miles of ditch.

I'd rather be sorry for something I did than for something I didn't do.

Alexis and I will both be competing.  It's not what I would call well run exactly.  Kenneth is a bit of a weirdo.  It's not badly run though.  Choose I'd uphill with no breaks for the first seven miles or more and usually into a headwind, with rollers to flat the next 10, and the last bit is flat and fast with one steeper bump towards the end.  It's harder than you think it's going to be looking at the profile.

Greg, good luck to the both of you, I won't be there this year (racing a Gravel Grinder near Llano).

When he says it's not well run, that is a bit of an understatement.  For the 6 hour race last year I had to email the organizer and give him my split times for each lap so they could find my results.  Also, there tends to be a bit more drafting going on for a time-trail (last year I was watching what appeared to be a 3 person pace line chase me in my mirrors).

If the wind picks up out of the south, expect dust in the first 7 miles, and that section will be a royal pain.

All-in-all, it is a fun event though, good folks all around (and sometimes some very fast 'bents are there).
