Choose I'd uphill with no breaks for the first seven miles or more and usually into a headwind, with rollers to flat the next 10, and the last bit is flat and fast with one steeper bump towards the end. It's harder than you think it's going to be looking at the profile.
Greg, good luck to the both of you, I won't be there this year (racing a Gravel Grinder near Llano).
When he says it's not well run, that is a bit of an understatement. For the 6 hour race last year I had to email the organizer and give him my split times for each lap so they could find my results. Also, there tends to be a bit more drafting going on for a time-trail (last year I was watching what appeared to be a 3 person pace line chase me in my mirrors).
If the wind picks up out of the south, expect dust in the first 7 miles, and that section will be a royal pain.
All-in-all, it is a fun event though, good folks all around (and sometimes some very fast 'bents are there).
