So, I go shopping for a present for tomorrow's a.m. extravaganza. I could have gone straight to PC&F, but wanted to go to Performance first, since it was that much closer from McKinney. I picked out something, brought it to the desk, and the guy said, "You know, there's a 15% discount on everything in the store...except bikes." I told him I only ride recumbents. He said he would ride them eventually, when he's too old for uprights. (Easy, Key, keep cool. Just buy and leave).
"You only say that because you have no experience with them." I decided to overlook the comment, and look at clothing.
"Oh no, no, I know someone who is a "recumbie"". He produces contact info of a bent bike rider he says lives in McKinney, whom I have never seen. "I know that some have one wheel in the front, and others, one wheel in the back.
Me: "I ride tadpoles, with the two in the front."
"Whoa! You take your life in your hands even more than I do!"
I told him that he keeps making judgments based on lack of knowledge. that if he were really curious, he would ask, and not be pejorative. When he told me that he was starting to feel hurt that I was upset with his innocent comments, I left.
Just as well, when PC&F heard the story, they gave me an upgrade of the article I WAS going to get for the same price. It was worth the grief.
