I followed the race live through BROL and the RAAM sites and Maria's ride was inspirational. Maria is an exceptional athlete in the same camp as John Schittler and Dennis Johnson. I personally think it dramatically shows that it is "not about the bike" and in the case of RAAM, probably not about the drugs either. It's all about having drive, stamina and determination.
