OH, duh. I read Santa Fe Trail but was thinking Santa Fe Trestle Trail instead. I thought maybe I'd missed a development on it. Yeah, I just love that dead-end on the Santa Fe where they make you climb the two bridges before you have to stop and either carry your bike or ride it through the rocks, broken glass and goatheads to get back to the street. Doable if you are a Dorba member on a mountain bike but not great for recumbents and road bikes. Even better than that one, though, is the end of the Santa fe Trestle Trail. The SFTT one goes from Oak Cliff, by the Corinth Street DART station, across the river to downtown. The ride is really very scenic but when you get to the downtown side, you have to ride or walk through some of the gnarliest railroad ballast plus climb over the levee to try to connect to Riverfront Drive (right next to the old Longhorn Ballroom) and back to Corinth Street. If you want to go from there on into downtown, riding can be very dicey because of speeding traffic, blind corners and tunnels.
