Horse Country TT, Sat June 8
May 9th, 2013, 8:57am

Got this from Kevin Hill -- I know somebody in RBENT has done this before...   I'm flying to Chicago that morning, so can't do it.  Start time for recumbents is listed at 1:15PM -- see the table below.

Kevin's got a good charity being donated to, towards children of fallen military...  makes it more worth the $$$... (and you do need to purchase the $10 one-day USAC license, if you don't have one).  I think there is even "team" riding, with finish based upon the first three across.

Good morning!

I am the race director for the Horse Country TT and want to invite your members to come participate in our race on June 8.  I realize that conflicts with the Collin Classic, but we are hoping to reach the riders that don’t do rallies much.

The routes available are 20K and 40K, and riders start in 30 second intervals.   If you have members that have been thinking about racing, this is a nice safe way to get them introduced to the speed aspect of cycling!

Proceeds from this year’s event will primarily benefit SnowballExpress.org (serving the children of America’s fallen military heros) and the local H.O.P.E. food bank.  We have a category specifically for active and retired military folks.

If you have a large group that wants to come out, let me know and I can work out a group discount/coupon code for you J

Please feel free to call me if you have any questions!

Thanks,

Kevin Hill

Here are maps - it's got a steady 1% or so downhill for the first two miles, which you've then got to climb back up at the end.

I've done it before and won when they did their best of three series.  It's pretty fun if the cops aren't being jerks.

Greg and I were the only two that showed up for all 3 stages.  It was a good opportunity to see how you could improve your times over the same course over a space of time.  I hope a bunch of you will do it, as almost no one ever has recumbent categories in races.  We should be more supportive of those that recognize we drive "real" bikes!
