Passed some slow guy on a bent at the end of my 4th, not quite sure who he was

A: Ask that analyst guy you know, also I noticed you were riding the wrong way which is the slow route
 
How come you gave up after just 37 miles?
 
A: I ran out of people to race, lap 3 was fast because I was racing all the roadies on the west side
 
The roadies disappeared at the same time you did, and were replaced by swarms of bugs. They were delicious.  
 
A: That's the reason I quit after 4 laps
