Rockwall to Josephine, Saturday 9AM, 16-18mph pace
Feb 20th, 2013, 11:05am

I'm not going to the HOT, after all...  so, if you want to do something a little different, and can do a 16-18mph rolling pace, I'm going to ride from the Rockwall Cycling store off of I-30, northbound up to Lavon, then further northeast to Josephine and back, for ~50 miles total. .  We'll do one stop in Josephine, and another in Lavon.  I'm asking GDB riders if they want to participate, as well.

Rollout at 9AM sharp -- it should be a very nice, although chilly, morning, with light northeast winds and full sunshine -- and a partial tailwind on the way back!  Should get back around 12:30ish.

The Rockwall Cycling store is an easy 10 miles east on I-30 from 635 in Mesquite, or about 6 miles east from PGBT. It's in the same shopping center as the Target, right next to it. Here's a map link. http://goo.gl/maps/F7Rl4

Here's the route map -- it's mostly light traffic back roads.

Anyone looking to do something different on a nice Saturday morning, at a good pace?  Give me a call, if you wish -- 214 690 6781

Just an FYI but 78 is all torn up in Lavon. No shoulder anymore. Be safe!

'preciate it...  we're not on it much, and if it's a problem we'll detour...

78 is horrid by car from 205 to 6. No shoulder on one side, concrete barrier on the other, not to mention the hauler truck traffic. Even Warren refuses to ride it. He suggests the service road on 30 to Royce City then 66 to the FM that goes to Josephine. 276 from Rockwall  then left on 550 thru Fate to 66 is another option. Smiley

Thanks, but we're only using about a mile of 205 south of Lavon, and the only part of 78 we'll use is about 100 yards getting to the gas station there in Lavon -- no worries.  I have no intention of dealing with that part of 78 where it's torn up!!

I also don't like riding on 66 -- no shoulder, mucho traffico...

The roads in general out there are in nice shape, with minimal chipseal.  Jay, Tony, wanna join in?
