largest gear jump spread in a 9speed SRAM.

I want to see how big of a bailout gear I can put on a custom SRAM 9sp cassette .  Does anyone remember whats the max you can jump gears on custom 9 speed cassettes?  for example 6 gears max difference between Adjacent gears that are next to each other.

Where JesterJay says "The shift from 18 to 28 was quite difficult. 26t worked MUCH better. Ratios above 1: 1.35 are tough to shift above 1: 1.45 quite tough to shift in a useful manner"
