"NTx Bicycle Rally" Oct 13 - RBENT gathering?
Jul 22nd, 2012, 2:00pm

Got this in an email, about a rally in Roanoke....  $35 registration.  Tandem couples are $30 each.  Day of goes to $40.  www.ntbicyclerally.org

This sounds like another good opportunity for an RBENT gathering, as part of a rally...  They have offered a few "comp" registrations, as well as a place for a gathering tent/spot for us, which is kinda cool.  I'll have Sam send the comps to me in an email (.pdf file), and I'll pass them on to the first three who POST HERE ABOUT WANTING ONE (Terrie and I are going to claim one, to ride the Margarita Machine).  No additional fundraising is required, just pay your ride fee.

We'll probably take him up on the offer of a tent spot...

Paul

Dear Friends at Recumbent Cycling of North Texas,

My name is Sam Sellers. I am the Director for the North Texas Bicycle Rally. As
we have grown over the past four years I am seeking to broaden our rider base
for recumbent and Tandem cyclists. your I saw your web page and see that this
is a very large group of people that we can cater to. With that in mind, I am
seeking assistance in getting our event posted on your website and in your
newsletter is that is possible. As a token of our appreciation, I would like to
offer up 4 Complimentary ride passes and a booth area near our registration
area for the RBENT Team should you be interested. In addition, we will provide
space for a tent near the food and entertainment area for your use. With that
all said here is the information I would like to dissimenate to the RBENT
membership.

This coming October 13, at 9:00 A.M. the North Texas Children’s Charities will
be hosting the Fourth Annual North Texas Bicycle Rally. It is located in the
Alliance Gateway Warehouse District near Roanoke, TX. The North Texas Bicycle
Rally (NTBR) is an annual fund raising event for North Texas Children's
Charities. This charitable organization supports local and national
organizations that provide care and support for desperately ill children. This
year's beneficiary of the Bicycle Rally is St. Jude Children's Research
Hospital.

Former Dallas Cowboy Offensive Lineman Tom Rafferty will be starting the
Bicycle Rally this year and will be available for autographs at the conclusion
of the Bicycle Rally.

This year’s event we are expecting over 700 Cyclists. The routes will be cover
the rolling hills and off-the beaten path roads of North Tarrant and Southern
Denton Counties. We will be providing COMMEMORATIVE T-SHIRTS and Water Bottles
for the first 700 Registered Participants. For the past two years we have been
asked by several of the Bicycling Clubs and the more avid cyclists to add a
Metric Century to our Rally. So in response, this year we will have 5 Routes of
5, 10, 30, 50, and 62 miles. Our Bicycle Rally has outstanding Public Safety
traffic support, Chase and Lead Vehicles, Motorcycle escorts, SAG and Rider
support vehicles, plenty of Rest Stops and plenty of safe parking at the Start
Finish area of the Rally. At the conclusion of the Bicycle Rally we will be
hosting a Tail Ache Party with refreshments, free food provided by Chili's, and
the Live Music will be provided by the Robert Donahue Band.

Samuel Sellers

Wish I could but I'm going to see TCU @ Baylor football that day.  Hubby and I went to Baylor, the rest of my family went to TCU.  Should be interesting.  Wink

Well, if you guys are gonna be there, I guess I gotta figure out a way to be there too, because I'm hooked. All I think about now is when is my next ride going to be.

Question: where do I get myself one of those fancy RBENT jerseys? I wanna show off like you guys do.

Great meeting you at the ride, Oliver! Paul worked up a group order for the rbent jerseys. Hopefully, we can eventually talk him into doing it again.

Ok, this rally is coming up in a few weeks...   Those who claimed the other free registrations are Tony, FreakFlyer, and Phantom -- you three all still plan to attend?   Sounds like a couple competing things have sprung up, like Lancaster and the RBM trike ride -- so if you're not doing the NTx rally, whatever you do, have fun!!!

Score!  I guess I can't say I never win anything anymore.  I'm just glad all the time I spend checking the forum has paid off.  I still plan to be there.  Let me know if I need to pick anything up and I can swing by.

I just found this site today. It looks like they did the sublimating for the shirts. Since the design is already done they may be able to do one offs or cut a deal on a group order.  I think I could go for one myself. The minimum order is 20.

http://benditcycling.com/rbent.html

Here is a little info on their program. I do not know if there is a market for 100 of these but it seems that the price can go as low as $34 if there is.

* All artwork and graphics are infused into the material using full digital sublimation which ensures a sharp, clean, fade-resistant finish
* Both roomy club cut and hi performance race cut styles available
* Tagless care instructions eliminate potentially scratchy tags
* 3/4 Length zip invisible zipper for a refined, clean look
* .50" Elastic waist
* Tapered side pockets designed to make your goodies easy to reach while hard to drop
* Coolmax® technology means you will remain cool, dry and comfortable even after hours on the road
* 100% Anti-bacterial polyester mesh fabric
* Provides excellent UV protection
* Money back guarantee!
* Actual per unit price is based on quantity ordered. Indicated price < edit> $34* < \edit > applies to orders of 100 jerseys or more. Minimum order quantity is 20 jerseys.

Here's the map for the 50 miler...  30 miles puts you back at the start, then you continue onto a 20-mile east side loop, that's got more rollers involved - but nothing worse than 3%, apparently.

OK, the passes are, indeed, claimed...  You three, don't register ahead of time -- we'll coordinate meeting there that morning and turning in the paperwork (Kenny, you'll have to pay for your wife's registration).  Go to the website and print out the "day of registration" paperwork, to bring with you.

Kenny, that sounds great, actually... my canopy isn't what you would refer to as "pop-up", so it sounds like yours would be a lot easier to deal with!  I'll find out where we're supposed to do all this....

I talked to Sam yesterday, he said that we could set the tent up (wind permitting) pretty much anywhere that we want and suggested on the South side by the food or by the band stage. Just look for the blue canopy with the recumbent(s).  I still haven't decided whether I'm riding my Bachetta Strada or my Terratrike yet, but one of them will be there and my wife's yellow Catrike.

Bring your chairs and sit a while after the ride.

Hoping to see you all there! It looks like the weather is going to hold, and should nice (if a bit too windy) for the ride. Look out for me, I'll be the guy trying to find another way up "Woo Hoo Hill".

Had a blast meeting and riding with everyone. Honestly, if it wasn't for all of you and your support (especially CruzBikeChris ) I would never have made it back to the finish line. 50 miles has never felt so long. RBENT is easily the most friendly group of cyclists out there.

Hope to do it again soon!
