The next CCRBENT ride idea
Jun 11th, 2012, 6:54pm

I have an idea that might be fun for the next CCRBENT ride.  Why not start and end, in Weston on a Saturday?  They have a nice little cafe there which has better hours Saturday, than on Sunday.  I mapped out a 42mi figure-8 route that would allow folks to stop at about 25mi if they want, or add the bottom 15mi loop, and get the full 42.  We could all eat at the cafe afterwards.  The route is all county roads with low traffic, except for a short stretch up Preston rd to Gunter.

Here is the route.  http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1305060

And for those desiring even less mileage, they could do the bottom loop, and stop in Weston at 15mi (and wait for the rest of us??).  The ride leaders could then do the top loop if they wanted the full 42miles.  That way the long riders would all finish at the same time hopefully, and everyone can eat.

What do y'all think?

Iirc, June 30 was still open for a lot of folks. Otherwise, the July Saturdays are the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th.

July 28 is closed, that is Tour D' Cure in Fort Worth.

I'm way into it, for the longer ride.   Smiley  I will be finishing up a week-long conference on the 29th, so I will be eager to put some miles under these knees.

Hey Key, Dave usually does a long ride on Saturdays, and I do 40-ish on Sundays typically, so if you want a fast ride get DAve on Saturdays, and if you want a little recovery at 12.xmph on Sundays. let me know.

My plan for the next ride: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1314412

Still close enough for a call to the SAG if necessary, but this can be a HHH practice with 60+ miles... Smiley

Hope to do some WRL laps before then...at least I know I can already do 42+... Smiley

Thanks.  I think Dave's quick ride on Saturday may be what the Dr. ordered.  Hey, Dave, is it basically the same route we did at the beginning of the month...well the way it was planned?  What's your average speed?

Here is my "tentative" plan for Saturday...  Modified Bobcat.  I say tentative due to it's what I want to do, the questions is what will my body let me do.  Average pace should end up somewhere around 14.5-15.5 miles an hour, maybe a bit more if there are roadies in need of chasing.  The route has several good bailout options as well as plenty of options for a few bonus miles.

Wow, 100 miles...to much for me.  I'll have to do something shorter.

That average speed is still a bit out of my league as well.  I'm in the 10-12 MPH average group.

I'll give it a shot.  Never ridden with others that far, especially with mixed disciplines.  Uncharted waters for me.  I'm emboldened by the advertised "several good bailout options."
