As a follow-up, I've been very pleased with my AreoTech Designs shorts (made in the USA as well!) Bought a few Cahmpion shirts on clearance from Target to compliment. Much better that riding with my regular shorts for long distances, very comfortable, just wish the shirts had pockets. No worries I can still get to my pepper spray quick enough with it on the top of my seat bag.
