NEW REAR RIDE - 01.01.2011
Dec 24th, 2010, 9:57pm

Is anyone doing this ride on 01.01.2011???

Happy New Rear Ride

New Year - Healthy Start

The Tradition Returns

For several years, new friends and old friends have been joining me for a nice bike ride in the country - with some black-eyed peas and cornbread for dessert. This year we are bringing back our same traditional riding and eating experience, with a bit of a twist or two.

Just what kind of ride is this?

We should make it clear that this is not a big time bike rally with a full blown produciton behind it. This is a simple ride, more like a glorified club ride. We have nice routes with break points that are stocked with fluids and snacks. We have a few friendly volunteers to help take care of you on the road, and some even nicer ones who have cooked black-eyed peas and cornbread for you to enjoy after the ride. My Mom will even be there to make you feel at home. So come on out and join us for a pleasant ride to give the new year a healthy start.

Start Time

January 1 is on a Saturday this year, so we want to make it easy to get to the start on time. Cyclists may start as early as 10am - but you can start as late as 11am. You read that right. We will offer a one-hour start window to accommodate your schedule.

This is my first time.....a couple of questions

a.  do you know anything about the routes,
b.  is there SAG support in case the weather turns bad,
c.  how is the parking at the start?

Thanks

This will be my 3rd year to do the long route, but I don't remember too much about it. The main thing I remember is Steve Petty pulling along side on his CA 2.0 prototype, saying hello, going into overdrive down a hill, and rapidly disappearing over the next hill. I also remember a long, gradual climb to the finish. See: http://www.bicycle-stuff.com/reviews/01_jan-fen/newrear.htm for previous years' reviews.

I far as I know, Bikin' Mike's rides always have SAG wagons.

There is plenty of parking around the Community Center, where the Ride starts.
