Rear tire change on Xstream
Nov 15th, 2010, 1:51pm

I've been running the 1.1" Schwalbe Duranos on the Xstream for the past ~2300 miles, with fine performance, no flats, no worries.  The rear tire looked like it was developing a significant flat "worn" area in the center, so I pulled it off to check it out from the inside out -- it seems to still have some decent wear left.  The front, being more lightly loaded, doesn't show nearly as much wear, as you might expect.

However, I decided to pull the Durano off the rear and make it a "folding spare", and put a used 1.25" Fatboy Slick (100psi) on, which I've run before, to see if I'd notice a difference in the ride...  From yesterday's 100K riding, it does seem to "cush" the ride a bit better, I'm a little surprised I noticed a difference -- but as heavily loaded rearward as the Xstream is, especially with me still at 230, I think I'm going to keep it there, especially during the winter months.

Anyway, thought I'd give a  Smiley for the Duranos...
