I thought it had way too much chip seal and doubt I'll do it this year. Oklahoma has a couple of good rides that weekend

Did the ride this morning.  Five miles out from the 1st rest stop (15 total miles) one of the riders went down in front of me.  Hit his head/face pretty good.  I am no doctor, but it looked like a heart attack.  Some people stopped and were doing CPR on him, as he was lying in the middle of the roadway, and trying to get EMS personnel enroute.  He did not look too good on the scene.  Alot of panic going on as no one seemed to have a firm grasp of exactly what action to take.  Numerious calls to 911 from the location.  About 5 - 8 minutes later a Bardwell EMS showed up then about 2 minutes later an ambulance arrived.  He had another rider with him on the road who knew his name.

As I watched it all unfold from about 10 feet away I couldn't help thinking this could have been anyone, and this guy, however unlucky he was, at least had someone there who knew him.  He had no Road-ID on and the application/registration form was not tied to any bib/ride number, at least mine was not.  Most people ride alone on these type of rides and it is easy to see that no information on a rider out on the road could, and usually is, the norm.

I remember seeing on the Bicycle Stuff Home page a letter to people putting on rides.  I would suggest they at least link the application/registration and bib/rider number.

I hope the guy made it, but some people after the end of the ride were saying he didn't.
