New ICE Trike
Aug 18th, 2010, 4:44pm

I got my new ICE trike today.  I got it at City Cyclist in Fort Worth.  They are really great people there, and I really have to thank Mike for all the help he gave me selecting this model.  Thanks again Mike.

Excellent...

Just a word of advice, purely based upon the pic -- get some clipless pedals and shoes, if you don't already have 'em, you don't want "leg suck" to happen!!!

Get yourself a cheap pair of shimano pedals.  Shoes are........individual as far as fit goes.   But you'll definitely be happier in the long run.  Heck, you already spent that much on the trike - might as well have all the goodies!

Nice Ice     I have looked at trikes and own a delta but would not mind owning a tadpole.  How does it ride.

It rides like a dream.  I heard a guy who was on a trike talking to a speed racer biker at the Waxahachie ride and he described it like this "at the end of the ride you are tired, sore, and hurting, while I am just tired."  That is exactly right.  I rode the HHH this year and I was only tired at the end of the ride.  The last 2 years I have been WIPED-OUT, my butt was hurting, my back & neck was killing me, and I could hardly walk.  This year I actually finished and thought to myself that I could have went a longer distance.

I suggest you try some before you buy one.  I went to CityCyclist in Fort Worth and spend about an hour with Mike (the owner) talking with him about what I wanted.  I went home and went on line to ICE and built the trike.  I took the sheet back to Mike and he and I went over everything I had selected and he made some recommendations, which I went with, and then he ordered the trike.  2 weeks later the trike came in and he allowed me to assist in building it in the shop.  Took all afternoon but I am really glad I was there, because I learned ALOT!!!!  Can't say enough good thinks about CityCyclist....

I really, really enjoy riding again... Smiley Smiley Smiley

I have purchased 2 recumbents from Mike and I agree he is top notch in every way.  I think I will give him a call and go by and try one out.  Don't get me wrong I love my Stratus XP and the V3 now the VRex I would let go if someone want one.   I have the delta trike but trying to get my wife to ride it.

Thanks for the imput

I need some help.

I need to find a good trike rack for hauling around my ICE.  I have been putting it in the back of my pickup but it really doesn't fit all that well.  Any suggestions?????? Smiley

Ric, I just purchased a Hitchrider http://www.hitchrider.com/trikes.htm.  I took my trike to Mississippi and it traveled really well.  With the locking pin on the receiver, it didn't sway at all. My brother has a friend with a Davert and he travels all over the south with it.  He loves the Davert, but I wanted a rack that tilted up against the car when not in use.

Ric did you go with the 20 inch or 26 inch wheel in the rear?    I am truely interested in the ICE so any input would help or something you got on the bike that made a big difference to you or something you might need to add to make it even better.

I went with the 20" all around, mostly because I am not a speed racer, I added fenders all around, and I put a rear rack on the trike.  The larger wheel (27") in the rear is also nice.

I would go in and talk with Mike about how you ride and what you would like on the trike.  He will tell you the advantages and disadvantages of each different upgrade.
